Don't think it's a Syrphidae

I hope I'm not wrong in posting this fly here. I thought at first it was a Syrphidae, but it doesn't "feel" like one. I'm probably wrong though Sad.

Indeed often taken for a Syrphid

Aggghhhhh she cried! I was getting so confused as I had both this and the other one I posted labelled as Stomorhina. Then I thought about it and it started to worry me, they really are so different, so I thought I'd ask the question. NOW it's clear Shock, Sarah

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
