Hi,
found on 19-September-2021, grassland meadow in nature reserve "Höllberg" near Neu-Bamberg, Bad Kreuznach, Rhineland Palatinate, Germany
Length approximately 1.5cm
Can it be identified?

Oestromyia leporina, Oestridse. Very rare in Europe.

Altitude ?

Hi Theo,
not sure what you mean with No Kidding: I am not kidding for sure.
This nature reserve is one of the best insect habitats we still have with many rare and red list insect and other species.
Altitude is approximately 200m

Just an cry of utter surprise. Of course you are not kidding.

200 m. asl is extremely low for this species.
Its hosts are hares and, in Siberia, pica's.
Hence 'leporina'

Please submit for the gallery !
