Hi! I have a female! So I now know what I'm looking at for chymomyza. I think these two are either fuscimana or distincta - not got to a 'scope yet ... Let me know if I'm wrong! Thanks! D djo attached the following image: [153.86Kb] |

I think it is fuscimana as the epandrial lobe seems to be narrow. For the female, placement of the longest seta of oviscapt is the only distinctive character between the two species - and it is not seen in the photo.

Thank you! I shall soon be back to a 'scope and be able to take a proper look. She also may lay eggs (??? I've been lucky with costata before!) |
