species ID possible? In a garden in Vienna on Hornbeam

As there are only inconspicuous dark marks on the wing edges and the head is not dark, I'd vote for the common E. briggsi. If it is a female, however, E. meridionalis would also be an option (that species is obligatorily parthenogenetic). The British key https://www.brc.a...-E2-F1.htm is very useful but does not cover all species. To be on the safe side, use the great paper by Lienhard (https://faunedefr...8re%20.pdf). Thanks, very helpful! Until now, the only Ectopsocus I found was E. petersi, which is very common here. Unfortunately, even under magnification I cannot figure out the sex of the specimen, the end of the abdomen is very black, and I am not even sure if the last segment is retracted.
