Several of these have been flying into our lounge over the past few days. I presume it is Eumerus Sp. Is a genus ID possible? I read that "the larva of E. funeralis are phytophagous, feeding in damaged bulbs and are minor pest of Amaryllis, Hyacinthus and Narcissus." I have recently come across several rotting Narcissus bulbs in my garden and now wonder whether these little beasties were to blame. Indeed a female Eumerus funeralis. On the uppersite picture you do see a small protrusion at the base of the hind femura. They are also in my garden. In heath and natural grasland you will find nowadays the very similar Eumerus strigatus which is somewhat larger and has no protrusion. Greetings, Leendert-Jan van der Ent |
