Found this fly in my greenhouse yesterday (30th April 2021), North Essex (VC19). It has been identified as a cecidomyiid but no further. I am not at all familiar with this family and am hoping the characteristic looking wing markings may allow an identification please.

I still have the fly potted.

Supertribe Cecidomyiidi, possibly Lestodiplosis.

Thanks, John. Checked the UK list and there are 39 species. Don't suppose there is a key available that you know of?

I know of no way to identify these even with a specimen.
