Hello, Before the window cleaner came to our institute for his annual duty, I managed to save lots of dead flies from between the window panes. Here is one of the most interesting: about 1 cm long and in good condition except for some dirt particles. I would put it into Xylophagidae or Coenomyiidae, respectively, according to its peculiar antennae and habit. There should be only a handful of species in Germany, but the few pictures I found show animals different from mine. Therefore I ask for help and give a series of pictures that hopefully display important features for identification. Solva marginata sounds good! So not Xylophagidae, but Xylomyidae - wood is still involved, anyway. And there are still less species found in Germany, so I am glad I got one. Many thanks for ID! Sundew |
